Parker's 4th Birthday

For my son Parker's 4th Birthday I made him two cakes. The first one I made and gave to him on his day you can see here ...
The one you see above I made for his party. One of his presents was the Playmobil Ghost pirate ship and island. I baked a sheet cake and covered it it cream cheese icing that I tinted blue. I frosted it to look like choppy water. The sand was created my crushing vanilla Oreo cookies. I made the treasure chest with a mini Snickers bar. The X, fishes and octopus were made from Airheads candy. Then I decorated the rest of his cake with the skeleton pirate toys.
His birthday was at the end of May, but I decided to post these pictures because I was so tickled to see the other cake and treasure map card posted on http://skulladay.blogspot.com today. We did some shopping earlier in the day and saw a bunch of fall and Halloween decorations. So once we got settled at home we checked out their blog. Parker's favorite holiday is Halloween!

Magnetic Bookmark

I rarely get a chance to sit down and read a good book. I recently picked one up and every time I set it down my 4 year old little boy wanted to pick it up and take my book mark. Ugh! I've tried a couple different ones with ribbons and the basic one. Welp so far this one seems to be doing the trick! I made this by recycling 2 magnetic business cards. I pulled the business cards off the magnet part, then glued paper to them. I left about a 1/4 inch gap between them then artisan tape to "glue" them together. The gap makes it fold over nicely without extra bulk of paper. I added another strip of decorative tape for more interest and inked up the edges. Viola! This was a quick and easy project. I am now thinking I'll have to make some as gifts, perhaps monogrammed!

Congratulations

I think this little teddy bear is just precious!
For this card I used white cardstock as the base then used a brayer to make the front of the card yellow. For the "quilt" I cut up a bunch of one inch squares then glued them to a plain piece of copy paper. I then used the Top Note Stampin' Up! Bigz Die and liked both pieces so much I had to use both of them.

JustRite Friday Challenge 032: Color, Thank You Card

I love warmth of fall earth colors. Today I needed to make a masculine card and this challenge from JustRite Stampers seems to fit perfectly with the color combo. I randomly stamped a circle border from "Big Occasions Centers & Borders" to create the background. I layered a brown satin ribbon over a light olive grosgrain ribbon. the label was made with a punch, it consists of two layers, a brown layer and a wood sheet layer. I used a die to make the thank you. If you look closely you can see the shadow underneath the label from using foam tape to pop it up. Give Thanks For Simple Blessings

For the JustRite Friday Challenge 032: Color I used their Favorite Occasions Borders & Centers
set. I love the color combination of Olive, Chocolate and Pumpkin. The brown paper was made from a paper towel that I inked all up and then used clear embossing powder to give the shine. The other "paper" was actually plain white textured wallpaper that I inked up to give more dimension and coordinate with the colors for this challenge. Yes really, wallpaper. I had the perfect ribbon in my stash. Check out the challenge for JustRite Stampers..... http://justritestampers.typepad.com/justrite-inspiration/2010/08/justrite-friday-challenge-032-color.html

{Caardvarks} Christmas Tags & Minis

For this card and tag I tried a faux bleach technique with the snowflake stamps. The sheen the glossy cardstock has is no nice. I used a swirl embossing folder and inked with a soft blue and white to give the feel of wind blowing snowflakes around for the tag. The silver ribbon just glistens beautifully.

Caardvarks Christmas Tags & Mini with JustRite Stampers

I used a plain basic tag that you can get from any office supply store as the base for my Christmas tags. The top one I used a flower embossing folder and ink to highlight the raised design and added glitter glue in random places for some bling. The second tag I used a houndstooth embossing folder and ink to highlight the design. Both cards have the cute Gingerbread man stamp from Justright Stampers set "Favorite Occasions Borders & Centers". I just love the artisan tape from that is below the ribbon. You're a Star

The center tin was recycled from the end of a crescent roll package. I punched the star shape onto it then layered the paper star on top of it.

Abstract Art

My first painting! I used shades of red orange and yellow. perhaps a whole wall next :)

For My Friend

This paper is from Close to My Heart, a collection called Veranda. The hummingbirds are soft as well as the text in the background.

Merry Merry Christmas

Ok so it's August in the south so like that means um 110 with heat index and humidity. Wow am I ever ready for cooler weather! I used puff paint for Santa's hat and cuff. The holly berries in the wreath were made with red sparkle glitter.

The shiny texture paper was made with a paper towel! I inked it all up with lots of colors then used UTE to emboss it. It looks so cool in person.

Thank U

I am always in need of a thank you card! It's definitely a good thing :)

In this card I recycled an aluminum can and embossed with the cuttlebug diamond plate. The blue background is painters tape and the cream is basic making tape.

I was playing with black and white. I love the new SU! cherry cobbler color.

This one was for the ladies at a local cupcake store, The Sweetest Batch Cupcakery. The store is decorated in pink with black & white damask. Their "Queen of Hearts" cupcake is the best!
