TapeSwell Bows

As soon as I saw this bow idea from Niki Estes I knew I wanted to try it with the Holiday Stripe and Snowflake Decorative Tape from TapeSwell. Here's the link to Niki's bow... http://nikiestes.typepad.com/my_paper_creations/2010/12/another-quick-and-easy-packaging-idea.html If you check out her blog she has the link to a tutorial on SplitCoast Stampers too. The tape is currently on sale here at http://www.tapeswell.com/ As you can see from the photos above I covered a 12 x 12 piece of card stock on both sides with the tape. I then cut in into 1" strips. The loops are made from 1" x 6" strips that I hole punched and threaded with a giant brad to hold the bow together. The boxes are made from plain white cardstock. Making the sides of the box 2" high perfectly suits the striped tape pattern.
I love the tape patterns and colors. They remind me of the Rankin & Bass animated cartoon Frosty the Snowman. I've entered this in the Simon Says Stamp & Show Something From Yesteryear challenge here.... http://simonsaysstampandshow.blogspot.com/2010/12/simon-says-stamp-show-something-from.html

I Love Gingerbread

I made these cute little gingerbread men from Sculpey Chocolate 053 Polymer Clay. This is the first time I've ever made anything with polymer clay. I think the gingerbread men turned out so cute! I just love gingerbread! I can hardly wait to learn so more techniques to make stuff like peppermints. I'm envisioning little red Santa hats and candy canes for next year! From one small block of $2 clay I made well over 2 dozen gingerbread men. I made a dozen to become pins. Plus another dozen for the gift tags on the gifts in a jar. Mmm chocolate chip cookies! I also used the Friendship Jar die from Papertrey Ink and Snowflake embossing folder from Stampin'Up! for the tags.
I'm linking this project to http://forfunchallenges.blogspot.com/ for Christmas theme. Also to http://bellichallenge.blogspot.com/ for using Christmas themed embellishments. And finally to http://simonsaysstampandshow.blogspot.com/2010/12/simon-says-stamp-show-something-from.html for Something from Yesteryear.

Merry Christmas

As soon as I saw this reindeer die I just had to have it! It's from Quickutz. The paper came from Hobby Lobby. I used the Top Note die from Stampin' Up! and a Martha Stewart punch for the wreath. I used clear rhinestones and colored with a red Sharpie marker.

Green Christmas

I love recycling things. My card started by carefully cutting up an aluminum can and running through an embossing folder. I then sanded the sheet to take some of the blue color off the flowers for the silver of the aluminum to show. I trimmed it down to adhere to white cardstock. I trimmed a recycled gift card, rounded the edges and used a silver Sharpie marker to "soften" the edges. The button started as a plain white one that I colored with the silver Sharpie after it dried I used a Sakura White Gelly Roll pen to make the snowflake. Added some ribbon and a bow. Ta da!

{Caardvarks} Monochromatic Challenge

Seriously one day I will get better at photographing my projects! lol I made this card for a friend's birthday later this month. Hey Cheryl! Anyhow I thought I'd throw my name in the hat again for a final attempt with the {Caardvarks} challenge to make a monochromatic card. I used kraft cardstock as my base and a fun damask pattern from Pink Paislee. I stamped the Stampin' Up! sentiment in old olive ink and then heat embossed it to stand out a bit more, and added the fun ribbon. Ta da! I've had fun playing along with {Caardvarks} and sad to hear Jenyfur is ready to move on to something else. Perhaps something better soon!?! Check it out here.... http://caardvarks.blogspot.com/2010/12/our-final-challenge.html

{Caardvarks} Final Challenge

For the {Caardvarks} final challenge I made this card out of various shades of green. The polka dot paper is from Papertrey Inc. The green damask is from Pink Paislee and the tree paper from Stampin' Up! I added glossy accents to the trees. You can see some of the shine that is making the tree outline and leaves glisten. The challenge is to create a monochromatic card. Here's the link.... http://caardvarks.blogspot.com/2010/12/our-final-challenge.html

Papercraft Star Challenge 23

The Papercraft Star Challenge 23 is to create a holiday gift tag using cardstock, patterned paper stamp and or die cut (Cricut or other) ribbon or twine and gems or pearls. Check it out here...
For my tag I used the Papertrey Inc Christmas Tree die on twill that I inked up and sprayed with glimmer mist for some subtle sparkle. I decorated the tree with ribbon and gems and layered on cardstock. Stamped the Merry Christmas sentiment and cut it out to layer on my bow. Volia!
